Ethical and legal policies
BJ-BABS is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in research we publish. For studies involving humans or animals, it is essential that all works are conducted in an ethical and humane manner in accordance with international ethical guidelines (WMA Declaration of Helsinki, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)). Authors should explicitly mention in their manuscripts that the proper protocol has been followed, and where applicable, that the study has been reviewed and approved by an appropriate ethical committee (with approval number and date).
5.1 Consent to participate or consent to publish
For studies involving humans, BJ-BABS requires that authors ensure informed consent has been obtained for the publication of any data or details relating to individual participants. If a study participant’s identity can be ascertained in any way, it is necessary to obtain that individual’s explicit consent before publication. Authors should include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human participants. The privacy rights of human participants must always be observed.
5.2 Competing interests, funding, and sponsorship disclosure
Authors are required to declare any and all potential conflicts of interest. This includes relevant financial interests in any company or institution that might benefit from the publication of the manuscript. Authors must also disclose any funding or grants received that supported the work. This information will be published within the acknowledgement section of the manuscript.
All funding sources supporting the work and all institutional or corporate affiliations of the authors should be disclosed in the manuscript.
